Description

Bolt cicadas are most active during severe thunder storms. The vibrations wake them from their hibernation in the mud, at which point they wake only to reproduce and return back to hibernation. Unlike a typical cicada, this species is completely silent when serching for a mate, and instead rely on vibrations through the tree bark. Whether or not raindrops from the storm confuses these unintelligent insects is still up to debate.

Bolt cicadas make easy pickings for meals, as their body glows a lightning-bolt blue, but they are unappealing to eat due to a paralytic powder they scatter that leaves a mouth numb. From evolving to consume Bolt Cicada larva, False Ravens are immune to this powder, although the birds seem to grow a distaste for the adult beetles.
