Description

These bugs are said to be the spirit remnants of the sun's daughter. Every night, when the beetles flee into the spirit-dimension, the sun follows them there to make certain they stay safe. Farmers of old feared that killing even one of these beetles would anger the sun, make the sky turn red, and unleash a firey hell upon the land. When a swarm began consuming their crops, ancient farmers would let the Suntomb locusts eat as much as they wanted. Some farmers today keep the tradition of leaving the beetles be, and in return, will frequently find the crops of the following year more bountiful and flavourful than any of the harvests. Safirans point their fingers at the Walrus Maw grubs that worm out of the soil during that year of bounty, claiming the burrowed grubs provide better than a typical earthworm.
