Squid's first harvest(short story)
‘What Is this holiday? Why are the leaves changing colors? I don't understand, why is everyone so excited? What's happening?’ Squid thought to himself, he didn't understand what was happening but he wanted to be a part of it. He watched silently as others harvested the pumpkins, corn, etc. He slowly made his way into the harvest and looked at the vegetables and put his paw on a corn stalk and pulled the corn off the stalk, looking at it. He tilted his head at the colorful corn in his paws and stared at it for a moment before continuing to pick as much corn as he could. He put his harvest into a basket and looked at his basket of food he had harvested before he then walked back to the field and began harvesting more crops. Everything he picked was put into his basket, taking his time with each item. He inspected each item carefully before putting it in his basket. He took a specific interest in the corn and picked a lot of it, making sure it was perfect back and had the same amount of colors on it before setting it in his basket. He then took his harvest home and began to prepare each vegetable perfectly and carefully as he began making different dishes, pumpkin pie, apple pie, butternut squash steaks, creamy polenta & meatballs, etc. After carefully making each dish, he began packing up and carrying the dishes out of his home and handing out the food out to his friends, Laketide, Starfish, Palace, Mimosa and Dojo. Each thanking him for the meal and desserts that he made, he gave each a simple nod of acknowledgement and a ‘you're welcome’ before he sat with them in the park and began eating the meal with them as his friends talked about their day and gossiped. He smiled softly while he was eating, happy to have his friends by his side and enjoying his food that he made from his harvest. He hasn't had seen his friends all together in a long time so this was happy to have his friends all together for such a feast between friends.
