Playing Cupid | Come on, Goblin!

"Oh, come on you old coot! What's the worst that could possibly happen by you getting out there a little and telling them you like 'em?" Drish whined, the small dragon leaning over with the help of Zilke's little light in front of their face. "Uhm... yes, Mister Goblin, surely nothing that bad could happen."

The older aqualox sighed, crossing his arms again as he looked over to the side. "That's what you would think, wouldn't you? But there can always be ways that rejection hurts more than usual. Especially when it's someone as handsome as... them." Small sparkles seemed to flash in his vision as he thought about it. "They could reject me normally, but they could also... insult me. I'm definitely not the most attractive lox in the water after all. I'd be rather easy to do."

"Aw, don't say that! If you ask me, you just have a special charm that not many people appreciate." Drish continued, tapping Zilke on the head to cue him to continue the compliments. "Y-yes! While I can't exactly... see... you... you have a wonderful voice and are a very kind soul. You're quite smart and passionate about those fantasy books you always talk about when we visit. I know it's... kind of silly to say, especially since I'm far from someone with experience about these things..."

He paused, smiling gently. "But it's worth it to try, isn't it?"

Goblin didn't respond for a bit, worrying Zilke. "Mister Goblin?" He asked, and this time he heard a small laugh in response. "You know, you're right kid. Guess I've just been rejected enough that I forgot that you miss all the shots you don't take. And, I suppose you're right about some of that stuff you said about me. Maybe this old nerd can get on his paws again to try and find love."

Drish jumped from Zilke's head to Goblin's for just a moment, lightly flicking the lox's antennae before hopping back to Zilke. "That's the spirit! Now let's get moving- Ether's almost over!"
