The Saltalon Islet is a small outcropping of land off the coast from a Decollate terradin herd. They say the islet was once part of the mainland, but when its residents attempted to align themselves with both the Lands and the Seas, the ocean grew possessive and split the Decollates' land in two by a powerful strait: the mainland for those who were still too connected to the Lands, and the islet for those the ocean believed it could sway to become devout to the Seas.
Despite its mythical history, Saltalon is a quiet region known as a tourist spot for elderly folk. Saltalon shores are made of pure, dark stone with crystal-clear turquoise water. Countless tidepools pockmark the stones, revealing all sorts of colourful sea creatures. Beyond the beaches is mostly scrubland atop dark black and red soil. Although the region is very dry, there is no shortage of life, from saltbushes to hyrax to plains wanderers to caracals.
Tourists of Saltalon prefer the islet's shores, finding them more hospitable throughout the day and filled with the small-town charm of signposts with sun-faded histories, outlooks across the ocean cliffs, and stone carvings of Saltalon settlers. Those born and raised on Saltalon, on the other hand, tend to spend their time across the rugged shrubland, using the plateaus for racing and following ancient roads during sunny hikes. When terradins fell into hibernation, though, Saltalon became ghostly quiet. While a few aqualoxes (many of whom call Saltalon home) still maintain the settlements, age is beginning to show on the buildings. Without the vigor of their earth-elemental residents, the allure of Saltalon has faded and tourism has stunted.
